Careers and Internships at Web Pioneer: A Software Engineering Team in Cairo Since 2014

Who we are as a team, the roles we hire for when we hire, what we look for in a candidate, and how to apply. No open roles are posted right now; we keep CVs on file and contact candidates when a matching role opens.

Web Pioneer is a software engineering and technology company founded in Cairo in 2014, with one office in Nasr City, building and operating systems for clients in 15 countries. The team is small enough that every engineer knows what the others are working on, and disciplined enough that every change passes code review and a staging environment before production. No open roles are posted right now; we keep CVs on file and contact candidates when a matching role opens. If you would like us to know you before a role opens, read on and then send your CV.

Code reviewed by a second engineer

Substantial changes are reviewed before they are merged, and the review looks at permissions, input handling and queries, not only formatting. Reviews here teach more than any course.

We operate what we build

The systems we deliver stay under our monitoring after launch: availability, performance, errors and logs. An engineer here sees the effect of their decisions in production six months later, not only in the demo.

A written scope for every project

No work starts without a scope document stating assumptions and exclusions. It protects the client, and it protects you from requirements that change daily with no written record.

Work in Arabic and English

Our clients are in Egypt, the Gulf and Europe, so documentation and correspondence run in both languages. Clear writing in Arabic and English is part of the job, not an extra.

Who we are as an engineering team

We work from one office in Nasr City, Cairo, Sunday to Thursday, 09:00 to 17:00. We build custom systems, mobile apps, e-commerce stores and ERP systems, then run and monitor them after launch. The technologies running in production for our clients today, as published on the company facts page:

  • Backend: Laravel, PHP, Node.js, Python and Frappe.
  • Frontend: Vue.js, React, Next.js and Tailwind CSS.
  • Mobile: React Native, Flutter and Firebase.
  • Data: MySQL, MariaDB and Redis.
  • Platforms: ERPNext, WordPress and WooCommerce.
  • Operations: Docker, Nginx, Jenkins, GitHub, Cloudflare, Sentry, Prometheus and Grafana.

How we work is published in detail in the Trust Center: private repositories, code review before merge, separate development, staging and production environments, releases through an automated pipeline, and monitoring after launch. If you prefer uploading files straight to the production server, you will not be comfortable here.

The roles we hire for when we hire

No open roles are posted right now; we keep CVs on file and contact candidates when a matching role opens. These are the roles we need most often, so you know where you fit:

RoleWhat you work onWhat we expect
Backend developer (Laravel)APIs, admin panels, payment, shipping and ERP integrations, and database performance.Laravel and MySQL on real projects, an understanding of authorisation and queries, and automated tests for the logic that matters.
Frontend developer (Vue or React)Bidirectional Arabic and English interfaces, admin panels, and integration with APIs.Vue.js or React with TypeScript or modern JavaScript, and attention to performance and accessibility.
Mobile developer (Flutter or React Native)Android and iOS apps with in-app payments, maps and notifications, published on both stores. At least one app published on the stores, and an understanding of secure token storage and permission handling.
QA engineerTest plans from the scope document, manual and automated testing of the main journeys, and acceptance testing with the client.Clear test cases, reproducible bug reports, and experience with at least one automation tool.
DevOps and Linux engineerLinux servers, Docker, Nginx, Jenkins, backups, monitoring and incident response.Real production servers under your care, an understanding of networking, TLS and firewalls, and written documentation for every change.
UI and UX designerUser journeys and interfaces in Arabic and English, and clickable prototypes before the build.A portfolio of real product interfaces, fluency in a modern design tool, and an understanding of development constraints.
Technical salesDiscovery calls, turning a client need into a written scope with the engineers, and following up on quotes.Enough technical background to understand what we sell, clear writing in Arabic and English, and honesty with the client before signing.

What we look for in a candidate

  • Finished work that reached real users. A live website, an app on the store, an internal system someone uses. Shipped work ranks above certificates for us.
  • A GitHub account or equivalent whose code we can read, even a small project. How you organise code and commits says more about you than a CV does.
  • Clear writing in Arabic and English. Most of our work moves through written scope documents, minutes, tickets and merge requests. Someone who cannot explain a problem in writing slows the whole team.
  • Honesty about time and ability. Saying "I do not know this yet" or "this will slip two days" early is worth more to us than a promise that does not hold.
  • Interest in operating, not only delivering. Someone who asks how they will monitor what they built, and how they would restore it from backup, fits the way we work.

Internships and graduation project support

We take interns from final-year students and recent graduates when an engineer is free to supervise, because an internship without real supervision wastes everyone's time. An intern works on small real tasks inside the same path as everyone else: repository, code review, staging, no exceptions.

We also support graduation projects for computer science and engineering students: guidance on choosing the technology, splitting the work and documenting it, on the terms stated on that page. Applications for internships go through the same route below, with the subject "CV: Internship" and your university and expected graduation date.

How to apply

Email your CV to info@web-pioneer.com with the subject "CV: role name", for example "CV: Laravel developer" or "CV: Internship". In the body, add your GitHub or portfolio link, and a link to one piece of work you are proud of with two lines on your part in it. You can also send your CV on WhatsApp to +201027770444.

No open roles are posted right now; we keep CVs on file and contact candidates when a matching role opens. We confirm receipt of every CV, keep it on file, and contact you when a role matching your profile opens.

How the project runs

  1. CV: email it with the subject "CV: role name" and your GitHub or portfolio link, and we confirm receipt.
  2. Initial screening: we read the shipped work before the CV, and reply in writing on whether an open role matches your profile.
  3. Short technical task: a bounded task close to our real work, done in your own time, and we discuss your decisions in it, not only the result.
  4. One technical interview: with an engineer from the team, about the task, your experience and how you think when things break.
  5. A meeting with the CEO: a conversation about how we work and what both sides expect, followed by a written decision with salary and terms.

Frequently asked questions

Is remote work possible?

We work from the Cairo office in Nasr City, and hybrid days are agreed per role depending on its nature. This page does not promise fully remote work; the question is raised openly in the interview and answered clearly before any offer.

What is the salary?

It is discussed per role, based on experience, the technical task and the interview, and written into the final offer with no surprises. We do not publish salary ranges here because they differ between roles and levels of experience.

Do you accept students?

Final-year students are welcome for internships when an engineer is available to supervise, and we support graduation projects on the terms stated on that page. Apply with the subject "CV: Internship" and include your university and expected graduation date.

Do you work with freelancers for overflow?

Occasionally, for tasks with a defined scope and duration, and through the same path the team uses: a private repository, code review and an NDA. If you freelance, send your portfolio with the subject "CV: Freelance" and your specialty, and we will contact you when a matching need appears.

How long until I hear back?

We confirm receipt of your CV first. When an open role matches your profile, we come back to you within a few business days with the next step. When no role is open, we keep the file and contact you when a matching role opens, which is the current situation.

Send your CV
