Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between cloud hosting and shared hosting?
On shared hosting your site sits alongside many others on one server, with fixed limits you cannot change and neighbours who can affect your performance. Cloud hosting gives you isolated, dedicated resources you can resize on demand. Shared hosting is right for a brochure site; cloud hosting is right once uptime, traffic or data sensitivity actually matter to the business.
Do I have to buy the servers from you, or can I use my own account?
Either works. Many clients keep the cloud account in their own name and simply add us as an operator — the invoice comes to them from AWS or Hetzner, and they pay us only the management fee. Others prefer a single consolidated invoice. We do not mark up infrastructure cost silently in either model.
Who owns the servers and the data?
You do. The account can be in your name, the data is yours, and we hand over full root credentials and documentation. There is no proprietary control panel and no lock-in layer between you and your own infrastructure.
What uptime should I actually expect?
A properly architected single-region setup with monitoring and managed patching realistically sustains around 99.9% availability, which is roughly 43 minutes of downtime a month. Beating that meaningfully requires multi-node redundancy and a higher budget — we will tell you honestly whether your workload justifies it rather than selling you a number.
How often are backups taken, and how fast can you restore?
The schedule is agreed with you and depends on how much data loss your business can tolerate. Daily encrypted off-site backups are the common baseline, with more frequent database snapshots for transactional systems. Restore time depends on data volume, and we test restores periodically rather than assuming they work.
Can you migrate my existing site with no downtime?
In most cases yes. We build the new environment in parallel, run a full rehearsal migration, sync the final delta, then switch DNS during a quiet window with a short TTL. The old environment stays running until we are confident, so rollback is immediate if anything is wrong.
Is cloud hosting more expensive than a fixed hosting plan?
The infrastructure line item is usually higher than shared hosting and often lower than an oversized dedicated server, because you pay for what you actually need and resize as you go. The honest comparison is not the monthly invoice — it is the cost of an outage, a lost database, or a developer spending their week doing sysadmin work.
