Classifieds Marketplace App Development for the Gulf
Listings, chat, paid promotion, and the moderation layer that keeps the whole thing usable.
Haraj proved the model: a plain-looking classifieds board can become a fixture of everyday buying and selling in Saudi Arabia. What it did not prove is that the model is easy. Every classifieds app lives or dies on one thing, and it is not the UI. It is moderation. Without a real plan for duplicate listings, stolen photos and payment scams, your marketplace turns into a scam board within months, and the good sellers leave first. We have built software from Cairo since 2014, and on marketplace work we design the moderation tooling into the first release, not as an afterthought. Fixed written scope, published pricing, and the code becomes yours on full payment.
Moderation designed in
Report queues, listing review states and seller bans ship in version one. A classifieds app without them fills up with fraud faster than you can market it.
Published USD pricing
An MVP classifieds app runs $3,000 – 4,500, and you see the numbers before the first call. Payment is split across delivery stages, never all up front.
Built for Arabic and English
Most Gulf classifieds traffic is Arabic, so we build the RTL side first and mirror it into English. Category trees, search and chat all work in both directions.
Everything ends up in your name
Once the closing invoice is paid, the source code, designs and store accounts move to you under the agreement we both sign at the start. No hostage repositories.
What goes into a working classifieds platform
Listings with structured attributes
Cars need make, model, year and mileage; property needs area, rooms and tenure. Per-category fields are what make filters useful, so we model them before writing a single screen.
Search and filters that match how buyers hunt
Category, city, price band and keyword search, plus saved searches with push alerts so a buyer hears about the right listing before someone else does.
Buyer-seller chat
In-app messaging with photo sharing, optional phone-number masking, and a report button inside the thread itself, because that is where scam attempts actually happen.
Paid listing promotion
Featured slots, bump-to-top and category pinning, purchasable through the regional gateways, HyperPay and Tap among them, with each upgrade priced from your admin panel.
Moderation and anti-fraud tooling
Admin review queues, keyword and image flags, duplicate detection, and graduated controls from a quiet listing limit up to a permanent ban. This is the part most quotes skip.
Admin dashboard and reporting
Category management, promoted-slot pricing, user report handling and activity views, so your team can run the marketplace without calling a developer.
Classifieds app pricing in USD
| Scope | Price range | Typical timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Classifieds MVP: listings, categories, chat, basic admin | $3,000 – 4,500 | typically 8-12 weeks |
| Mid-scope build: paid promotion, full moderation suite, notifications | $4,500 – 8,000 | typically 12-16 weeks |
| Heavy-traffic platform: auctions, high-volume chat, multi-city operations | from $8,000 | 16+ weeks |
These are working ranges, not teaser rates. Where you land inside one depends mostly on how much moderation automation and payment integration you want in release one; the exact figure goes into a written scope before any money moves.
How a classifieds build runs
- First conversation: we talk through your market, launch categories and how promoted listings will earn, with confidentiality paperwork ready before any sensitive material moves.
- Scope document: you receive a written feature list with acceptance criteria and a fixed price against each delivery stage, so the quote cannot drift later.
- Iterative build: the app grows on a private test environment you check from your own browser and handset every week, with the moderation console built alongside the buyer-facing screens, not after them.
- Hardening and seeding: before launch we load realistic test listings, walk your team through the report queues and ban tools, and rehearse the scam patterns that will show up in week one.
- Release and transfer: we publish to the App Store and Google Play under your own accounts, and when the final stage is paid, the repositories and release credentials sit in your name.
Frequently asked questions
Why do you keep talking about moderation?
Because it decides whether you have a marketplace or a scam board. Buyers stop returning the first time they get burned, and sellers follow the buyers out. We treat the review queue, reporting flow and ban tooling as core scope in the first release, not a phase-two promise.
Can it work like Haraj?
Haraj is a useful reference for the model: simple listings, heavy Saudi usage, revenue from promoted posts. Your version still needs its own category structure and its own trust mechanics, so we scope those to your market rather than cloning a screenshot.
How do users pay for promoted listings?
Through regional processors, HyperPay, Tap and their peers, with Apple Pay where it fits. Promotion purchases map to specific upgrades (featured, bump, pin), and you set the price of each one from the admin panel without a code change.
Who ends up owning the platform?
The client, in the agreement itself. When the last stage is paid, the source code, designs, store listings and signing credentials all pass to you, so a future team can take over without ever speaking to us.
Do you build the Arabic side too?
Yes, and usually first. Gulf classifieds audiences are overwhelmingly Arabic-speaking, so we design the RTL layout, Arabic category names and Arabic search behaviour from the start and mirror the result into English, instead of translating an English app afterwards.
Planning a classifieds marketplace?
Send us your category list and target cities. You will get back a written scope, a fixed figure inside the ranges above and a realistic launch date. Our company record sits at /company/facts and our security practices at /trust, so you can check us out before committing to anything.
