We implement ERPNext, the open-source ERP, for companies operating in Egypt: accounting, stock, sales, purchasing, HR and point of sale, in Arabic and English, with VAT and ETA e-invoicing set up. A core implementation of two or three modules starts from about $3,000 and takes 8 to 12 weeks. You own the system and the data.
No per-user licence fee
ERPNext is published under the GNU GPL v3. You pay for the implementation, hosting and support, not for seats.
Arabic or English per user
Each user picks a language. We design Arabic and bilingual print formats for tax invoices, notes and statements with your finance team.
ETA e-invoicing inside the ERP
An add-on app signs invoices and notes and submits them to the Egyptian Tax Authority when issued, returning any rejection reason to the accountant.
You own code and data
On full payment, any custom app we write, the configuration and the data belong to you. ERPNext itself stays open source.
ERPNext in one paragraph, and when it fits
ERPNext is an open-source ERP published by Frappe under the GNU GPL v3 licence and built on the Frappe framework. There is no per-user licence fee: you pay for the implementation, the hosting and the support, not for seats. One database covers accounting, buying, selling, stock, manufacturing, projects, assets and point of sale. HR and payroll run in Frappe HR, a companion app from the same publisher under the same licence. The current major version is v16, released in January 2026, and Frappe's published support schedule plans to support it until the end of 2029.
- It fits when your operating cycle is close to the common one (buy, store, sell, collect), you want a system you own without fees that grow with every new employee, and you expect the user count to rise.
- It may not fit when your business runs on an unusual workflow that needs a system built from scratch, or when you want something that works with no setup on day one. We say so in the first meeting and point you to the cheaper option, whether a custom build from our ERP systems page or something else.
We run ERPNext v16 and Frappe Helpdesk in production for our own business: our sales pipeline, our quotations and our client support tickets all live on it. Most of what we recommend to clients comes from running it ourselves.
Arabic, printouts and Egyptian tax setup
ERPNext ships an Arabic translation, and each user can work in Arabic or English. The part that usually needs real work is the printouts: tax invoices, credit notes, delivery notes and customer statements need Arabic print formats that carry the fields your accountant and the Tax Authority expect. We design those print formats with your finance team and test them in both languages before go-live.
- Arabic or English per user, so your finance team and your group reporting each read the same numbers in their own language.
- Arabic and bilingual print formats for tax invoices, credit notes, receipts and statements.
- Tax templates per item and per customer type, configured with your accountant against your tax registration. The authority on tax rules is the Egyptian Tax Authority and your accountant; we do not give tax advice.
- Fiscal year, cost centres and opening balances agreed with your accountant on paper first, then configured.
ETA e-invoicing on ERPNext
ERPNext's core product has no Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) module. We reviewed the version-16 source on 2026-09-24: its regional code covers Australia, Italy, South Africa, Türkiye, the UAE and the US, not Egypt. The integration therefore comes from an add-on Frappe app installed on the system.
We connect ERPNext to the ETA platform so invoices, credit notes and debit notes are signed and submitted when they are issued, item codes are checked before a document leaves, and every rejection comes back to the accountant with its reason. Testing runs on the ETA pre-production environment before the first live invoice. E-receipts for point-of-sale retail are scoped per project.
The full integration scope, onboarding steps and rejection handling are on our ETA e-invoicing integration page.
Moving from Excel, Odoo or another system
Migration is a task with its own sign-off, not an afterthought.
- List what moves: opening balances, customers, suppliers, items, open invoices, stock balances, and the history you actually need to query.
- Clean and map it: duplicated customers, item names that differ between branches, tax settings per item.
- Import into a staging copy and reconcile the totals against your old system with your accountant.
- Sign off, then cut over. Your accountant approves the reconciled figures before the live switch.
From Odoo, data usually leaves through Odoo's own export to spreadsheets, or through its external API where your Odoo plan includes it (Odoo documents the API as available on its Custom plan only). Older history can stay archived in the old system if that is cheaper, which we agree during scoping. See our accounting system and inventory system pages for what each module covers.
Hosting, ownership and support after go-live
Two hosting options, both with the same ownership terms:
- A server we manage: monitoring, security updates and backups at the scope written into the signed support agreement, with our practices described on our Trust Center.
- Your own server or cloud account: we deploy and document it; the provider invoices you directly.
On full payment, the code of any custom app we write for you, the configuration and the data belong to you. ERPNext itself stays under its GPL v3 licence, which does not restrict how you use it.
Support runs on the three standard tiers on our technical support page: Essential, Business and Critical. They differ in coverage window, response to critical incidents, monitoring scope and the monthly allowance for small changes. Exact hours and response commitments are written into the signed agreement. We test each upgrade on a staging copy with your data before it reaches the live system, and major version upgrades are quoted separately.

What we implement on ERPNext
Accounting
Chart of accounts, cost centres, multi-currency books (EGP, USD and others), bank reconciliation, and VAT and withholding tax set up against your tax registration.
Stock and purchasing
Warehouses and branches, an item master carrying the GS1 or EGS code each item needs for the ETA, reorder levels, and the purchase cycle from request to supplier invoice.
Selling and CRM
Quotations, sales orders, price lists, customer credit limits and a sales pipeline your team can keep current.
Point of sale
POS for branches and showrooms, posting to the same stock and ledger as the rest of the company instead of a separate till that needs manual reconciliation.
HR and payroll
Frappe HR for employee records, attendance, leave and payroll, with salary structures configured with your accountant against your company's rules.
Helpdesk
Frappe Helpdesk for customer tickets, if you support your own clients after the sale, on the same customer records as the ERP.
What it costs
ERPNext has no licence fee. You pay for the implementation once, then for hosting and support every month. These are the ranges we publish on our ERP systems page and in our ERP cost guide:
| Scope | Price range | Typical timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Core implementation, 2 to 3 modules (usually accounting and stock) | from $3,000 (EGP 165,000) | 8 to 12 weeks |
| Full multi-module implementation | $4,500 to $8,000 (EGP 250,000 to 440,000) | 12 to 20 weeks |
| Multi-branch or multi-company | $8,000+ (EGP 440,000+), detailed proposal | 20+ weeks |
| ETA eSeal certificate and token | paid by you to the issuer | third party |
Dollar figures use the same 55 EGP/USD anchor as our published pricing report; if the rate moves materially, the EGP figure is the one we hold. Hosting and post-go-live support are monthly and set in the estimate by tier. A precise estimate reaches you within one business day of a requirements session, and that session is free.

Frequently asked questions
How much does an ERPNext implementation cost in Egypt?
A core implementation of two or three modules starts from about $3,000 (EGP 165,000) and takes 8 to 12 weeks. A full multi-module implementation runs $4,500 to $8,000 (EGP 250,000 to 440,000) over 12 to 20 weeks. There is no licence fee; hosting and support are billed monthly.
Is ERPNext really free?
The software is. ERPNext is published under the GNU GPL v3 with no per-user fee, so a hundred users cost the same in licences as ten: nothing. What costs money is the work around it: setup, data migration, Arabic print formats, the ETA integration, training, hosting and support.
Does ERPNext support Egyptian e-invoicing?
Not out of the box. The core product has no ETA module, so the integration comes from an add-on Frappe app. We install it during the implementation and test it on the ETA pre-production environment before your first live invoice.
Should we choose ERPNext or Odoo?
That depends on your user count, budget and how much you want to change. Odoo has a wide partner network in Egypt, an official Egypt e-invoicing module and a per-user subscription for its Enterprise edition. ERPNext has no per-user fee and is open source in full, but ETA needs an added app. We recommend one in the requirements session.
Can you move our data from Excel or Odoo?
Migration is a separate step with its own sign-off. Balances, customers, suppliers, items and open documents are mapped, imported and reconciled against your old figures on a staging copy, and your accountant approves them before the live switch.
Who hosts the system, and who owns it?
You choose: a server we manage, or your own server or cloud account. On full payment, the custom code we write, the configuration and the data are yours. ERPNext itself stays open source.
